I was raised to respect and honor the American Flag.
Anyone who knows me personally, knows that red, white and blue are more than just colors for me. My family roots can be traced far back to the founders of our great nation, and as a proud World War II veteran, my father raised the flag every day in front of our house until his death in 2004.
If you’ve visited my home, you also know that my collection of vintage flag memorabilia is also a hint of my passion for patriotism.
But again it is more than the colors, it is the meaning.
To me the flag is family, history, freedom, love and perhaps most relevant of all–a reminder of the important role we all play in serving for the good of our county, our family, friends, neighbors and our community. That’s what my parents instilled in me and that I took to heart, when as a single mother I did what I had to do to raise my children and went to Law School at night so that I could contribute to our community in a meaningful way.
That led to my work in the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office for 19 years, of which more than a dozen was spent providing legal counsel to the Lake County Clerk and focusing on election law.
Today, It is truly an honor for me to serve all of the residents of Lake County as your Clerk. Everyday I come to work with pride and a commitment to ensure fairness, accuracy and efficiency in all of the responsibilities of this office. From elections to tax processing to vital records. I am grateful for all of the people who work so hard in the office to make this possible, and I am also grateful to the voters of Lake County who voted to elect me in 2014 and who I am asking to support me for re-election in 2018.
